Since we decided not to cover the run. We turned the coop to face South and centered it between the 2 oak trees. We leveled out the coop and and pushed it back some to keep our ladies from jumping off the ramp to fly over the fence.

It's getting hot (heat index today 115 degrees) I needed to run power to DaVille. After recovering form my heart attack when I found out how much 100 ft of romax cost I ran the romax through the conduit (the gray pipe in the pix) and connected the power at both ends. I added a fan to the house and a timer so the a light would go on in the early morning to give my ladies a full 15 hours of light.

That took most of the day and about 3 gallons of sweat. It ain't pretty yet but, I'll get to that once functionality is complete.

Next, I am going to bury the conduit, and put on a latching door at the top of the ramp. I'll add more pix and updates as we add on.

A few days ago a colleague informed me that her neighbor was looking give away their 5 chickens and a  coop. She asked me if I was interested.  Ummmmm.....Ya!

We were scheduled to move the rest of our stuff out of our old house that weekend so we drove with the U-haul and picked it up.  8 people and 2 hours later we managed to get the 1000 lbs coop in the truck.

Here we have the coop facing east. Initially, we planned to build a 16 foot covered run.  However, the ladies are doing well without a cover so we scrapped that idea.
